SOLUTION: In a recording apparatus equipped with a material forming device 10 for preforming a layer of a material 11 capable of being dissolved or swollen by a liquid and rising in viscosity after swelling on an intermediate transfer body 21, an image forming device 30 ejecting a liquid to the intermediate transfer body corresponding to an image signal to form an image on the intermediate transfer body and a transfer device 50 for transferring the image on a recording material, the intermediate transfer body 21 is constituted of a substance showing liquid repellency to the liquid.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus with blurring with an ink as little as possible, having the excellent waterproof property and excellent paper storage property after printing so as to ensure a long term storage property of powders. SOLUTION: By operating a setting agent applying means 10 and an intermediate transfer member means 20, a setting agent 11 mixed in an air flow and an intermediate transfer belt 21 are contacted so as to apply the setting agent 11 onto the intermediate transfer belt 21. When the part applied with the setting agent is moved at the position of a printing means 30, image information is printed on the setting agent 11 by the printing means 30. A recording paper 41 is fed out from a resist roller 42 so that the image information is transferred onto the recording paper 41 by a transfer roller 51. Then the paper is discharged by a paper discharging means 60. When the power source switch of the recording apparatus is turned off, a delay means is driven so that the setting agent 11 adhered on the intermediate transfer belt 21 is eliminated by a cleaning means 70 so as to be returned to a tank, or the like 12 for storing the unused setting agent 11. Then, the recording apparatus power source is turned off.
