    • PURPOSE:To impart multi-stage separation effect to a vacuum degassing apparatus by one stage chamber, by a method wherein liquid droplets blown out from a spray nozzle are impinged onto a perforated plate to form fine liquid droplets and these fine liquid droplets are flowed through a filler layer in a thin liquid film like form in a sufficient stay time. CONSTITUTION:A liquid blown out from a ring shaped spray nozzle 13 under high pressure is impinged onto a perforated plate 14 to be falled as fine liquid droplets in a scattered state. The liquid passed through the perforated plate 14 is received by the central part 14a on the surface of the perforated plate 14 and fallen as liquid droplets from plural perforations thereof. A gas G1 drawn out from an upper vent port 15 is inhibited from a stream toward the central part by a barrier plate 16 and a degassing passage is formed along the outer peripheral part 14b of the perforated plate 14. The fallen liquid droplets are flowed into a lower filler layer to be downwardly flowed on the surface of a filler in a thin liquid film like form and a gas G2 generated therein is discharged to the outside through a gas passing pipe 19 in no contact relation to the fallen liquid.

    • PURPOSE:To adjust the distribution range of liquid blowing port according to a strip width and to eliminate a wasteful liquid flow rate by partitioning the inside of a pressure chamber with partition walls and opening and closing the communicating holes provided in the partition walls. CONSTITUTION:The inside of the pressure chamber 1a in the in-bath floater 1 is partitioned to plural partition chambers 8a by the partition walls 7a. The communicating holes 9a are bored in the partition walls 7a. The communicating holes 9a are made freely openable and closable by closing plates 10a. When a strip 4 is passed through, the liquid is ejected as it is from the central blowing ports 1b in the central part of the floater 1. The liquid is sent through the communicating holes 9a to the respective partition chambers 9a and is ejected from the blowing ports 1b near the right and left ends. The communicating holes 9a of the partition chambers 8a at both the right and left ends are closed by the closing plates 10a when the strip of the narrow width is passed through. The pressure fluid is not ejected from the flowing ports 1b at both ends and the wasteful flow rate loss is averted.

    • PURPOSE:To remove scale from the surface of a continuously traveling long- sized steel strip by pickling in a short time with a short-sized pickling tank by dividing the tank into two tanks in the traveling direction of the strip and allowing a pickling soln. to flow through a specified path in the tanks. CONSTITUTION:A pickling tank is divided into an inlet side pickling tank 2a and an outlet side pickling tank 2b with a partition plate 10 and a steel strip 1 to be descaled is continuously traveled from the tank 2a to the tank 2b by guide rolls 4a-4e. An acid soln. 3 having 11% acid concn. is fed to the inlet side tank 2a through a feed pipe 5 to dissolve scale by pickling. After the acid concn. lowers to 7%, the acid soln. is drawn out of the rear part of the tank 2a through a pipe 7 and blown into the outlet side tank 2b by a pump 8 from the rear end through a pipe 9 so that the soln. flows counter to the strip 1. The soln. is finally drawn out of the front part of the tank 2b through a pipe 6 as an acid soln. having about 3% acid concn. Thus, scale can be removed from the strip 1 in a short time with the short-sized pickling tank.

    • PURPOSE:To make the sheet thickness uniform in a transverse direction by providing divided water cooling chambers in a water cooling drum and alternately feeding and discharging cooling water to and from the respective divided water cooling chambers from a driving side and driven side. CONSTITUTION:The space between the inside peripheral surface of the drum 1 and the outside peripheral surface of an inside cylinder 12 is formed to the plural divided cooling chambers 10 by partition plates 11. Water feed paths 17 and drain paths 18 are alternately bored to both ends of the cylinder 12 in the peripheral direction. The cooling water is fed from a water feed port 5 through a water feed pipe 13 and the water feed path 17 to the divided water cooling chambers 10. The cooling water cools the drum 1 heated by a molten steel land is heated up by the drum. The cooling water is then drained through the respective drain paths 18 and a manifold 4 from a drain port 6. The driving side D and driven side W of the drum 1 are alternately distributed with high-temp. parts and low-temp. parts and the average temp. and expansion size on both sides are made the same. The difference in the sheet thickness size in the transverse direction is decreased and the sheet thickness is made uniform by the above-mentioned method.
