    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high recording density by narrowing a recording track width to enable a high track density while maintaining recording density.
      SOLUTION: The composite magnetic head is provided with a recording head portion basically constituted of a first magnetic layer forming a trailing part during recording in a magnetic storage medium, a second magnetic layer forming a leading part during recording in the magnetic storage medium, and a gap set between the first and second magnetic layers to generate a leakage magnetic flux, and a magneto-resistance effect reproducing head portion for generating a resistance change corresponding to a magnetization pattern recorded on the magnetic storage medium by the recording head portion. There are an overlapped portion between the first and second magnetic layers 21 and 22 with parts disposed in the gap. Additionally, in the composite magnetic head, the overlapped portion of the second magnetic layer forms a projected shape with respect to a part other than the overlapped portion.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce recording bleeding amounts in a recording medium by reducing magnetic saturation at width directional edge parts in narrow track width, and to sufficiently secure a prescribed recording magnetic field. SOLUTION: A second magnetic yoke 35 is provided with magnetic gap depth 37 (GD) for allowing a magnetic gap 36 to hold an almost equal interval from the top end to rear part of the second magnetic pole, and an interval with a first magnetic yoke is widened from a position equivalent to the magnetic gap depth to the rear part. The second magnetic pole of the second magnetic yoke is provided with track width directional width TW for recording a signal in the track width of a recording medium, and the width TW holds the same width only in prescribed length PH from the top end to rear part of the second pole, and the width is widened from a position equivalent to the prescribed length to the rear part, and the prescribed length PH until the widening start position of the width TW in the second magnetic yoke is made shorter than the magnetic gap depth GD.
