    • PURPOSE:To improve the productivity of a furnace by immersing a lance pipe in slag after finishing oxidation refining, blowing powdery carbon together with air or a nonoxidizing gas, and adding a metallic reducing agent at once so as to shorten the time required to reduce the slag. CONSTITUTION:When stainless steel is melted and refined in an electric arc furnace, a lance pipe is immersed in slag after finishing oxidation refining.
