    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a briquette manufacturing method by which both the strength and yield of briquettes can be secured while preventing equipment trouble without excessively increasing equipment costs of a briquetting machine.
      SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method, a raw material composed of a powdery mixture of a metal-oxide raw material and a carbonaceous material is agglomerated into carbonaceous-material-containing metal-oxide briquettes using a briquetting machine in which a hopper 5 for feeding the raw material is disposed above a pressure roll 1 consisting of a couple of rotating rolls 2 and 3, both rotationally driven by a motor 4, and a screw feeder 6 for forcedly feeding the raw material is provided inside the hopper 5. The rotating speed of the screw feeder 6 is controlled so that the current value of the motor 4 rotationally driving the rotating rolls 2 and 3 takes a value within the range between 0.8 times (preferably 1.0 times, particularly preferably 1.1 times) and 1.3 times the current value at which the apparent density of the carbonaceous-material-containing metal-oxide briquettes becomes saturated.

To the free flowable surface 11 of the perticulate substance S supplied to the chamber 3 from the chute 2 toward the downstream side in the oblique direction, the particulate substance K is supplied to the oblique direction upstream side from the shaft 5 through an adding chute 12. As the result, the sufficiently uniform mixture can be preliminarily pressurized and a compression mold product can be obtained from said uniform mixture.
