    • PURPOSE:To produce an Ni-Cr stainless steel by producing an Ni-contg. iron from a molten iron and Ni ore in a converter having an oxygen top blowing lance, side blowing tuyere and bottom blowing tuyere, then charging Cr ore therein, reducing to Ni-Cr iron and subjecting the iron to decarburization refining by O2. CONSTITUTION:The molten iron, the Ni ore and carbonaceous material are charged into the converter type smelting furnace 10 having the oxygen top blowing lance 21, the bottom blowing tuyere 24 and the side blowing tuyere 25. Gaseous O2 is blown from the lance 21 and an inert gas is blown form the bottom blowing tuyere 24 to generate heat and raise temp. with the carbonaceous material as fuel and reducing agent as well as to reduce the Ni ore, by which the Ni-contg. iron is produced. The gaseous CO generated at this time is subjected to secondary combustion at >=30% in molten slag 11 to decrease the slopping of the molten metal. The molten slag is then removed and the Cr ore is charged into the furnace to directly reduce the Ni- contg. molten iron to the Ni-Cr contg. molten iron by the C therein; thereafter, the molten iron 12 is subjected to the oxidation decarburization by oxygen blowing to decarburize the refine the C therein. The Ni-Cr stainless steel is thus inexpensively produced from the molten iron, Ni ore and Cr ore.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust-concentration measuring method using light transmission ensuring a continuous measurement for a long period of time without deterioration of the measurement accuracy caused by dust adherence. SOLUTION: This dust-concentration measuring method comprises the steps of continuous by sampling dust-containing water, diluting the sampled dust- containing water by a predescribed amount of dilution water, measuring the ratio of a light attenuation factor of the diluted dust-containing water, and measuring the dust concentration of the dust-containing water from the measured ratio of light attenuation factor based on the relation between the premeasured dust concentration and the light attenuation factor of a sample solution. This measuring method further comprises the step of cleaning an inner wall of a light attenuation factor measuring part 3 within a continuous measurable time defined by an equation (1) TO=5O/(COXD), or replacing the light attenuation factor measuring part with another one which was cleaned preliminarily. In the equation (1), TO: is a continuous measurable thime(min), CO: average dust concentration of the diluted dust-containing water within the measuring time (g/I), D: light transmission thickness in the light attenuation factor measuring part (cm).
