    • PURPOSE:To detect the speed of a moving object in a short time without requiring memory or correlation operations by taking out of an array of sensitivity- variable photo detectors a signal indicating the sum of products of light and sensitivity, thus detecting the speed. CONSTITUTION:An array of sensitivity-variable photo detectors (retinal chip circuits) 20, comprising light receiving elements arranged in a line whose sensitivity can be varied according to voltage, is disposed parallel to a road surface 4 so that the direction of speed detection coincides with that of the line of elements. A control signal Cj is input from a control signal generator circuit 30 in the direction of the line of retinal chip circuits 20, and a current (y) that is proportional to the sum of products of the quantity P of light impinging on a picture element Gj and the control signal Cj is output to a signal converter circuit 31. To measure speed, the counter (n) of a speed measuring circuit 32 is set to zero, and when actuation of the circuit 30 is ordered the circuit 30 outputs conversion timing signals to the circuit 31 after the first and final periods of each cycle. The circuit 31 converts the current (y) stored in the previous cycle to voltage Y and outputs the voltage, and then the circuit 32 increments the counter by 1 and calculates the speed from the output Y.

    • PURPOSE:To improve purifying efficiency by comparing an air-fuel ratio sensor output with a basic signal through a waveform processing means whose time limit is controlled, generating an oscillation signal centered on integration value of an air-fuel ratio discriminating signal to add it to the air-fuel ratio discriminating signal for feedback control. CONSTITUTION:Basic injecting time is determined from an intake air amount Qa and engine speed Ne by a CPU 7 used in ECU 70 so as to add compensation of water temperature Tw, intake air temperature TA and acceleration increase. Besides, the output of an air-fuel ratio sensor 12 is compared with a reference signal 21 by a comparator 20 through a waveform processing circuit 26 whose time limit is controlled so as to integrate a rich/lean discrimination signal by means of an integrator 22, and the oscillation signals of amplitude and frequency corresponding to an engine running condition are generated by means of a generating circuit 24 with the output level centered. The discriminating signal is added to a signal proportionally amplified in a circuit 23 according to a driving condition for adding feedback compensation of air-fuel ratio. It is thus possible to make sufficient use of exhaust gas purifying ability of a catalytic converter.
