    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the stroke of a milling cutter in the case of milling the end face of a shaft product such as a crankshaft and forming a center hole.
      SOLUTION: A center drill 42 is disposed in the center of a ring-like milling cutter 40. First the milling cutter 40 is caused to approach the shaft product 30 so that the end face 31A of the shaft product 30 is directed to the inside of the milling cutter 40. Subsequently, while the milling cutter 40 is moved so that the end face 31A of the shaft product 30 moves from the inside of the milling cutter to the outside, the end face 31A of the shaft product 30 is subjected to milling by the milling cutter 40. After that, the end face 31A of the shaft product 30 is returned to the inside of the milling cutter 40, and the center hole is formed by the center drill 42.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool which facilitates replacement of machining tips of a machine tool in a short period of time.
      SOLUTION: The tool 10 of the machine tool has a disk-like or annular tool main body 12 and an arched tip holder 14 detachably attached to an outer or inner periphery of the tool main body. The tip holder is divided into a plurality of arched lightweight sub-tip holders 14a-14e. The sub-tip holders 14a-14e have mounted thereon a plurality of machining tips 18a-18e or a plurality of sets of machining tips, respectively. When a number of the machining tips 18a-18j on the tool 10 are wholly worn and they should be replaced by new ones, only the sub-tip holders 14a to 14e are removed from the tool main body 12 to be replaced by new ones while the tool main body 12 is kept mounted on the machine tool as it is.
