    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-wheel motor drive device configured to achieve high-level control with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: The in-wheel motor drive device 11 includes: a motor unit which rotates a motor-side rotary member; a deceleration unit which decelerates the rotation of the motor-side rotary member and transmits the decelerated rotation to a wheel-side rotary member; a wheel hub 26 which is fixed and coupled to the wheel-side rotary member; a wheel hub bearing which rotatably supports the wheel hub 26; a casing 12 which covers the motor unit, the deceleration unit, or the wheel hub bearing; a plurality of sensors 43 which are mounted on the casing 12 to detect distortion in the casing 12; and a signal processing device 46 which calculates a load applied to a wheel on the basis of distortion signals output by the sensors 43.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hub unit in which decrease in the strength of a flange is suppressed even when work holes are formed.SOLUTION: The hub unit includes a rolling bearing and a flange part 4 integrally formed with a hub wheel functioning as a bearing ring member of the rolling bearing. The flange part 4 has a plurality of thick portions 21 formed at predetermined intervals in a circumferential direction. Each thick portion 21 has a bolt hole 22 formed therein penetrating the portion in the thickness direction. Work holes 23 through which a working tool can be inserted are formed, penetrating in the thickness direction, between the bolt holes 22 adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction. A circumferential width W of each thick portion 21 that has the bolt hole 22 and that is adjacent to the work holes 23 in the circumferential direction is set to such a dimension that the thick portion 21 does not interfere with the work holes 23.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel supporting device of new configuration that can restrain the occurrence of a meshing failure between splines of a hub unit and a joint.SOLUTION: The wheel supporting device includes the hub unit 2 having a rotary wheel 11 formed with a first spline 25 at an axial inner side end face 24, and the joint 3 formed with a second spline 38 meshed with the first spline 25, at an axial outer side end face 37. Partial projections out of a plurality of projections provided at the first spline 25 axially project more than the other remaining projections in the first spline 25. When the top parts of the partial projections contact the top parts of the projections provided at the second spline 38, backlash occurs between the rotary wheel 11 and an outer ring 32, with the contact projections as a fulcrum.
