摘要： An exhaust silencing system for a two-cycle ported engine including an expansion chamber that communicates with the cylinder through a communication port that is opened before the exhaust port of the engine is opened so as to permit the exhaust gases to expand and reduce the noise of the engine. The communication port is either fully opened before the exhaust port is initially opened so as to achieve maximum silencing and/or is fully closed before the exhaust port is fully closed so as to avoid loss of effective compression pressure.

摘要： PURPOSE: To suppress heating to an excessively high temperature a catalytic converter in the case of mounting it in a water surface running boat. CONSTITUTION: A front side air circulating duct 17 of introducing the atmosphere into a ship body 2 is arranged in a ship body front side from an engine 8. An exhaust pipe (communication hose 22) connected to the engine 8 is extended between the engine 8 and the front side air circulating duct 17. A catalytic converter 25 is interposed in this extended part. Since the outside air of relatively low temperature, flowing into the ship body 2 from the front side air circulating duct 17, flows toward an air suction port 14 of an intake device, this outside air flows in the vicinity of the catalytic converter 25, to cool it.

And also such devices are provided, as an engine stop sensing means for detecting stoppage of the engine 5, an inner-exhaust passage contraflow preventive means 34 having an opening/closing valve 30 arranged on the way of the intake/exhaust passage 18, and a control means 33 for making control to operate the inner-exhaust passage contraflow preventive means 34 so as to keep the opening/closing valve 30 closed for at least a specified time after sensing engine stoppage.

Since the cylinders of the engine 21 is transversely arranged, even in the case where a multi-cylinder engine is used, the height of the engine 21 can be lowered to the extent of not obstructing the sight of passengers.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a high noise reduction effect by providing a communicating port to the top dead center side than an exhaust port in a cylinder inner surface while providing an exhaust decompression chamber in communication to the communicating port, and making the communicating port so as to open and close in a fixed timing with reciprocating movement of a piston. CONSTITUTION:A two cycle engine 13 equipped to a propulsion unit 12 of an outboard engine 10 houses a piston 18 in a cylinder 17 formed by a cylinder block 14, and charges a gas mixture sucked in a crank-case 23 via a reed valve 24 into a combustion chamber 22 via a scavenging passage 27. The engine ignites and explodes the gas mixture inside the combustion chamber 22, and exhausts exhaust gas from an exhaust port 28. In this case, a communicating port 30 is provided to the top dead center side than the exhaust port 28 in the cylinder 17 inner surface, while an exhaust decompression chamber 31 communicating to the communicating port 30 is provided. This communicating port 30 is formed in a position where it is opened by the piston 18 before opening of the exhaust port 28 in an expansion stroke of the piston and further completely opened immediately before a stage of opening the exhaust port 28.

摘要： PURPOSE:To protect a water pump from waterless operation, by providing a tank, which contains pump cooling fluid, and a cooling fluid supplying means which supplies the pump cooling fluid in the tank to the inside of the water pump. CONSTITUTION:An outboard engine 10 has an engine 14 and a water pump 19, and the water pump 19 forces the outside water to be fed to a water jacket 29 of the engine 14. The outboard engine, in which an oil tank 38 contains oil serving as the pump cooling fluid, mounts a manual pump 42, serving as the cooling fluid supplying means, to be interposed in the intermediate part of a feed oil pipe 39, and when the engine 14 is started, the oil can be supplied into the water pump 19. Consequently, friction heat, generated between an impeller of the water pump and the internal surface of an impeller chamber, is cooled, and the water pump is prevented from the generation of its damage.
