SOLUTION: The system is referred to as a parametric system, and incorporates adaptivity on top of the parametric system. The parametric system of MPEG-4 is composed of Demux controlled by a digital media integration framework (DMIF), a scene graph and media decoders, buffers, a compositer, and a renderer. There are interfaces in categories of media decoding, user functionalities and authoring, thus allowing a number of enhanced functionalities in response to use input and smooth degradation in response to limited system resources. A system for providing high connectivity communications over a packet-switched optical ring network comprises a core optical ring having at least one node, the node being coupled to a subtending system by an optical crossbar switch, a device for forming a first composite packet formed by a set of packets generated in parallel by an array of lasers, the device coupled to the optical crossbar switch, the first composite packet being parallel packets in a single photonic time slot, the first composite packet to be added to the core optical ring in a vacant photonic time slot via. the optical crossbar switch, a second composite packet propagating on the core optical ring destined to be dropped at the node for further distribution on the subtending system via the optical crossbar switch, an unstacker for serialising the second composite packet dropped at the node, the unstacker coupled to the optical crossbar switch and a detector for distributing the serialised packets to a further destination by the subtending system.

摘要： A system and method for automated task selection is provided where a selected task is identified from the natural speech of the user making the selection. The system and method incorporate the selection of meaningful phrases through the use of a test for significance. The selected meaningful phrases are then clustered. The meaningful phrase clusters are input to a speech recognizer that determines whether any meaningful phrase clusters are present in the input speech. Task-type decisions are then made on the basis of the recognized meaningful phrase clusters.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inclusion of a digitized audio signal within a video signal, as opposed to transmitting the audio signal on a separate carrier.
SOLUTION: A system is provided in which audio samples are inserted to a video signal, but within the time-frame allocated to video information, thereby displacing video data. Two audio samples are preferably placed in each video line at the beginning, and at the end. When the video lines are "stacked" to form a video image, the audio forms noise-like vertical stripes at both sides of the image, each of which is about 6 percents of the width of the image. The invention enlarges the video image, to cover the stripes.

SOLUTION: This invention uses an electronic scheduling or other time-based functions in a communication apparatus to control and/or initiate a transmission of information between the communications apparatus and a communication network. Information from one or more communication apparatuses to the communication network is updated, in response to time-based parts in information entries corresponding to a timer that operates with the corresponding communication apparatus. Once the network receives this updated information, comparison between these is initiated, to detect discrepancies between related information entries. Information about the time and the geographical location submitted by a user is compared with similar information automatically reproduced by the communication network by using a conventional or future network communication technology. Detected discrepancies are used for initiating appropriate notification to the user, reproducing the updated information, or holding an existing message delivery systems in nonuse.
