    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an exhaust gas sensor improved so as to surely detect deterioration of the exhaust gas sensor even in an environment in which exhaust gas is changed, while avoiding a fuel quantity increase control in a deterioration determination of the exhaust gas sensor.
      SOLUTION: The control device for an exhaust gas sensor has a sensor element getting into an activated state when reaching an activation temperature, and determines the deterioration of the exhaust gas sensor mounted in an exhaust gas passage of an internal combustion engine. In the control device, a temperature of the sensor element is detected, and start of activation of the sensor element is detected. When the start of the activation of the sensor element is detected, whether or not the temperature of the sensor element is not more than a reference temperature, and whether or not a target air-fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine is set within a range of a reference air-fuel ratio, is determined. If it is determined that the sensor element temperature is not more than the reference temperature and the target air-fuel ratio is set within the range of the reference air-fuel ratio, output deviation with respect to reference output of output of the exhaust gas sensor is detected, and the deterioration of the exhaust gas sensor is determined based on the output deviation.

The control device of the internal combustion engine controls the air-fuel ratio on the basis of the output current Ip of the sensor to detect the oxygen concentration or the air-fuel ratio.
