摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser butt welding method which prevents generation of humping in a weld bead and that increases welding speed. SOLUTION: In welding steel plates by moving and emitting, along a weld seam, a YAG laser or semiconductor laser which is shorter than a carbon- dioxide laser in wavelength, a high temperature plasma flow is emitted, in advance of the laser irradiation, in an unmelting state of the steel plate. In addition, desirably, the center axis of the laser has a sweep-forward angle tilted 10 to 30 degrees from perpendicularity.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to stabilize a weld bead by welding base metals while rotating an electrode arranged on the rear side of the base metals and removing the spatters on the electrode surface in a position where the base metals are not subjected to the irradiation with a laser beam. SOLUTION: Steel plates 1, 2 are welded by the laser beam 3. The electrode 4 is arranged below the weld zone and a plasma working gas 5 is supplied between the steel plates 1, 2 and the electrode 4. Voltage is impressed on the electrode by a power source 6 to generate a plasma 7. The electrode 4 is rotated. The irradiation position of the laser beam 3 is set at a point exclusive of the center of rotation of the electrode 4. A spatter removing device 8 is brought into contact with the position of the electrode 4 to which the laser beam 3 is not cast at all times, by which the spatters on the electrode 4 surface are removed. The material of the electrode 4 is composed of steel (alloy) and the electrode 4 is cooled. In addition, the surface speed of the electrode 4 is preferably made equal to the welding speed. The plasma working gas 5 is preferably pure Ar.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a thermal impact resistance by a simple method in a surface hardening of a hot extruding or forging die. SOLUTION: In the multi-layered building-up welding on the surface of a base material for hot extruding or forging dies, the thickness per layer of the same building-up material is made 0.5mm or more but less than 1.2mm. The preheating temperature of the base material for the die or the interlayer temperature of the cladding material is made 500 deg.C or less. The cladding material is composed, in wt.%, of 0.01-0.50% C, 7.0-30.0% Cr, 4.0-30.0% Mo, 0.5-7.0% Ni, 0% W and the balance Co excluding inevitable impurities. If the base material for the die is an iron-based stock of SKD steel, quenching from 1,000-1,050 deg.C is performed after building-up and then, tempering is carried out at 570-595 deg.C. If the base material for the die is an iron-based stock of SCM steel, quenching from 830-900 deg.C is performed after building-up and then, tempering is carried out at 450-500 deg.C.

Accordingly, high quality welding can be achieved under shield environment by the high concentration inert gas.
