    • PURPOSE:To eliminate relative backlash, by giving, before the start of the operation of a cutting machine, a torque in the same direction as that at the time of cutting to a main drive device and/or a speed-tuning device, and thereby making the condition of engagement of the gears of both devices the same as that at the time of cutting. CONSTITUTION:By the operation of ol-pressure cylinder 16, pinion 13 is turned and displaced in one direction via link 18 and oscillating link 19, and torque TM1 is transmitted to speed-turning device 2. In this speed-tuning device 2, torque TM1 is resolved into Tout and Tin. Tout is transmitted to epicyclic gear 11 and Tin is transmitted to differential gear 9. Each gear, 9, 11, is rotated in an arbitrary direction, and the condition of engagement of the gears of the main drive device and speed-tuning device 2 is made the same at the time of cutting by means of a torque in the same direction, and thereby relative backlash is eliminated. In this condition, epicyclic and differential main shaft gears 10, 12 of speed-tuning device 2 is rotated, via the main drive device, by a motor, and thereby, high-speed cutting is operated.
