    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control an engine and a generator and facilitate the control, in a power generation device to be mounted on a vehicle for generating electric power by driving the generator by the engine.SOLUTION: A power generation control unit 34 executes starting control to the engine 12 when a charging electric charge quantity of a secondary battery 18 reduces, and an electric power passage voltage value Vp reaches a starting threshold value VL as a first threshold value, in a state of stopping the engine 12. A motor generator MG1 generates electric power by starting of the engine 12, and the secondary battery 18 is charged with the generated electric power. The electric power passage voltage value VP increases by charting the secondary battery 18 with the generated electric power of the motor generator MG1. Thus, when the electric power passage voltage value Vp reaches a stopping threshold value VH as a second threshold value, the power generation control unit 34 executes stopping control to the engine 12.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control the electrical state of a neutral point of a multiphase AC load in a power converter for executing DC-AC conversion between a DC power supply source and the multiphase AC load. SOLUTION: In a system, the voltage of a secondary battery 10 is stepped up by an inverter 12 so as to charge a first capacitor 28 by a stepped-up voltage. The inverter 12 supplies three-phase AC power to a motor 30, on the basis of the charging voltage of the first capacitor 28 and the output voltage of the secondary battery 10. For controlling the potential of a neutral point N of a three-phase field winding provided in the motor 30 and a current flowing in the neutral point N to proper values, a converter 34 is connected between a positive-electrode terminal of the secondary battery 10 and the neutral point N. A neutral-point potential is adjusted so that it is half an inter-terminal voltage Vd of the first capacitor 28. An intermediate potential between the neutral-point potential and a positive-electrode potential of the secondary battery is adjusted so as to agree with an intermediate potential between potentials of both terminals of a second capacitor 46. SOLUTION: An inverter 24 converts a DC power from a high-voltage DC power source to an AC power corresponding to a PWM signal based on an AC voltage command to drive a motor 22. A DC power from a DC power supply is received by the positive and negative buses and then converted to an AC power from a center point of the leg by switching the switching elements. The resulting AC power is supplied to a motor 18. A diode bridge 22 has a plurality of legs configured by serially connected diodes 24. An AC power from a power generator 20 is received at a center point of the leg and rectified to produce a DC output. One end of the diode bridge 22 is connected by common connection to one bus of the inverter, and the other end thereof is individually connected to the center point of each phase of the inverter 22.
