    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a heat loss due to initialization of a capacitor by a method wherein a reference voltage is set at a voltage at several fractions of a fully charged voltage and initialization of a charging operation is corrected. SOLUTION: Respective capacitors are discharged completely. The designated signal SHn of a maximum capacitor, e.g. Cn, is set at 'H', and flip-flop 12i and a flip-flop 13i are reset. Thereby, selection signals S11,... Sn1 of a changeover switch at a parallel monitor are set at 'L', and selection signals S12,... Sn2 are set at 'H'. As a result, a reference voltage at a low voltage used to correct initialization of a charging operation is connected to respective comparison terminals. When the charging operation is started, the charging voltage of the respective capacitors is raised so as to reach the reference voltage sequentially. The output of a comparator CMP1 is set at 'H', the selection signals S11,... Sn1 are set at 'H', and the selection signals S12,... Sn2 are inverted to 'L'. Consequently, a finish signal SB which corrects the initialization as the output of an OR gate 17 is set at 'H', all the flip-flops are reset, the output is returned to 'H', and the correction of the initialization of the charging operation is finished.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain an electric double-layer capacitor having the energy density equal to a secondary battery by a method wherein, using the quantity of electrolyte of the concentration corresponding to the ion quantity same as the ion quantity of electrolyte of concentration with which internal resistance increases by the decrease in ion quantity, the quantity of filling of an electrode, corresponding to the difference of the above-mentioned two quantities, is increased. CONSTITUTION: The first quantity of the first concentration electrolyte, which gives the quantity of ion into the electrolyte with which constant internal resistance can be maintained within the range of the operating voltage, is used in the title electric double-layer capacitor. At this point, the second quantity of electrolyte of the first concentration, corresponding to the quantity of the ion quantity equal to the ion quantity of the electrolyte of the second concentration with which the internal resistance increases due to the decrease in ion quantity in the range of operating voltage, is used and the amount of electric charge of the electrode, in the quantity corresponding to the difference between the first quantity and the second quantity, is increased. To be more precise, a charging current is fed to the capacitor block 3, on which a number of capacitors are series-parallel arranged, from an AC power source 1 through a charger.

    • PURPOSE: To safely, effectively and efficiently control the auxiliary power by generating a control signal while its output time is being extended in proportion to the duration time of pedal footing force detected by a sensor, and providing a control means which can apply an auxiliary power in response to its pedal footing force. CONSTITUTION: In a pedal detection section 4, pedal footing force is detected by a sensor employing for example, a strain gauge and the like, and in a computation processing section 3, a control signal, is generated by extending its output time in proportion to the duration time of pedal footing force detected by the pedal detection section 4. Besides, a PWM control (pulse width control) section 1 outputs an output computed and processed by the computation processing section 3 as a control signal, adjusts a time interval at which voltage applied to an electric motor 2 from a power supply is turned on/off, and thereby controls the output of the electric motor 2. Since pedal footing force and its duration time are detected every time as mentioned above, and an output time to auxiliary power is extended in proportion to its duration time, response in proportion to a speed can thereby be automatically made only by means of pedal footing.
