    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of dust entering from the front edge and to increase the operating reliability of a storage unit by making the distance of the surface of a land part confronted with the magnetic disk against the magnetic disk shorter than that of the upstream side of rotation of an element part. SOLUTION: On the surface of the magnetic head 20 confronted with the magnetic disk, two tapered flat floating surfaces having entirely the same shapes are provided at the inner and outer peripheral sides. On each flow-out side surface of the confronted surface, magnetic materials 30 of the thin film magnetic head are formed and one of them is actually used for the information recording and reproducing operations. The space for the front edge of the tapered parts 26 of the head 20 against the magnetic disk is approximately 4μm, meanwhile, the space to the land parts 130 on the magnetic head is 0.1μm. Therefore, only the dust passing through the part of space 0.1μm against the magnetic disk is caught by the tapered parts 26.

    • PURPOSE:To completely remove microprojections in a short period of time from a magnetic disk surface without damaging said surface by oscillating a varnishing head and load spring system at the resonance frequency of the system by means of a shaker and subjecting the same to seeking in the radial direction of the head. CONSTITUTION:The load spring 2 is fastened to a guide stage 3a. The guide stage 3a is connected to the shaker 4 via an excitation rod 3b. The shaker 4 is fixed onto a moving base 5 movable in the radial direction of the magnetic disk 8. The spring system resonates and the head 1 oscillates when a supporting spring mounting part 3a for supporting the floating head 1 which floats on the rotating magnetic disk 8 is oscillated finely in a vertical direction at the intrinsic frequency of the bending in the vertical direction of the supporting spring 2. Since the head gliding surface is thereby brought into collision against the peak parts of the projections at the frequency conforming to the resonance frequency of the spring system, the projections are efficiently removed.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the vibration of a load spring from being transmitted to a head by constituting load working points of the load spring and a pivot part of a gimbal in combination with a permanent magnet and a superconductive material and keeping both of them in non-contact. CONSTITUTION:The gimbal 2 for combining the magnetic head 1 and load spring 3 is stuck with only a part 2a as one part of the gimbal 2 onto the magnetic head 1, while a head arm 4 is fixed to the load spring 3 with a screw. In case of giving a load to the magnetic head 1 by the load spring 3, the total load is imposed on a part 3a of the load spring 3 and then transmitted to a part 2b of the gimbal 2. These load working points 3a and 2b are the combination of the permanent magnet and the superconductive material. By this method, the load working points can be brought into non-contact by Meissner effect which is characteristic of the superconductive material, thus preventing the vibration of the load spring from transmitted.

    • PURPOSE:To improve head crash resistance and non-tackiness by forming a mask material having a pattern of a prescribed shape in a prescribed position to the surface of a magnetic recording medium, sticking a hard and rigid material thereon and fixing the head and rigid material having the prescribed shape and thickness to the prescribed position after removal of the mask material. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium 2 formed by kneading a magnetic material such as iron oxide with a resin is coated on the surface of a substrate 1 consisting of an Al alloy. A sensitizing agent 4 is coated on the surface of the magnetic recording medium 2 and the pattern sized 0.5mphi is exposed to the prescribed position by using a reduction projecting exposing device, then the agent is developed to form the mask having microholes 7. The hard and rigid material 3 such as alumina or SiC is deposited therein by sputtering. The magnetic recording disk consisting of the magnetic recording medium 2 having the hard and rigid material on the surface is obtd. when the sensitizing agent 4 playing the role of the mask is finally removed by a solvent. The height of the hard and rigid material can be varied by controlling the rate of vapor deposition at the time of the vapor deposition by sputtering. Both the improvement of the head crash resistance and non-tackiness of the magnetic recording medium and the improvement of the magnetic recording density are thereby satisfied.
