摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image capturing device that employs a memory with a comparatively small capacity that stores all of read image data. SOLUTION: The image capturing device is a hand scanner to capture image data by reading an image of an original through manual scanning. A read buffer 103a stores the image data obtained by reading the image of the original by an image read section 101 and a compression section 105 applies JPEG compression to the image data read from the read buffer 103a. The addresses of the read buffer 103a are controlled in a way that the addresses to store the image data from the read buffer 103a are reserved first and then the addresses required to read the image data from the read buffer 103a by the compression section 105 are reserved next and the area of the read buffer 103a consisting of the addresses to which are compressed image data have been stored in released and the areas of the read buffer 103a are used as a ring to enhance its utilizing efficiency.
