    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressed musical sound data reproducing device capable of raising a pitch without using an LPF which has been necessary before. SOLUTION: A readout control circuit 42 reads compressed musical sound data out of a ROM 41 at a normal speed when receiving a pitch-down or no-change indication and reads the data at a speed twice as fast as the normal speed when receiving a pitch-up indication, and outputs the data to a reverse formatting circuit 43. Reverse quantizing circuits SB0 to SB31 and reverse scaling circuits SC0 to SC31 demodulates sub-band pulses outputted from the reverse formatting circuit 43 for all sub-bands when receiving the pitch-down or no-change indication and for low-frequency side sub-bands when receiving the pitch-up indication. A sub-band composing filter bank 45 puts the demodulated sub-band pulses together back into original PCM data and writes the data to an output buffer 46.
