SOLUTION: In the structure comprising the polyaniline and generating active oxygen, the nitrogen atom of an amine or imine present in the polyaniline A1 bonds to an epoxy group in an organic molecule having an epoxy group, whereby the nitrogen atom is positively charged and the oxygen atom of the epoxy group is negatively charged. The polyaniline A1 takes electrons and protons away from H
2 O in water through the negatively charged oxygen atom and the polyaniline A1 itself is reduced.

SOLUTION: This active oxygen generating agent contains a polyaniline. As the polyaniline, at least one of the polyanilines expressed by formula I to IV (in the formulas, A is a negative ion) is preferably used because of having a good active oxygen generating efficiency, etc. By bringing the active oxygen generating agent into contact with a liquid containing a dissolved oxygen (e.g.; tap water and well water), the active oxygen is generated. In the active oxygen generating agent, e.g. a powder of an activated carbon, a zeolite, etc., a carbon powder, an electric conductive fiber, etc., are allowed to be blended besides the polyaniline.
