摘要： A power transmission apparatus consists of a transmission shaft (25) to transmit an input power, a pair of driven transmission shafts (27, 31) which are capable of rotating relative to the transmission shaft, a differential device (47) which connects said pair of driven transmission shafts and allows a differential rotation therebetween, and differential limitation means which limits the differential rotation when the velocity of the rotation of the differential rotation exceeds a predetermined value. The said differential limitation means comprises a first plurality of plates (61) fixed on one of the driven transmission shafts (27; 31), a clutch member (53) disposed on the other of the driven transmission shafts (27; 31) and having a second plurality of plates (57) which mates with said first plurality of plates through a predetermined clearance therebetween, a viscous fluid (71) liquid-tightly filled around said first and second plurality of plates, and a cam mechanism (59) which functions due to a viscous resistance of the viscous fluid to force said clutch member towards a direction in which said first and second plurality of plates are fastened together atthe time of a relative rotation between said pair of driven transmission shafts.

摘要： A positive drive having a housing (10) retaining a pair of spaced drive clutches (54) and (56) used to lock axles (18) and (20) respectively to housing (10) for one-to-one rotation. The clutches move from the engaged to the disengaged mode via axial movement of drive couplings (30) and (32) which are forced to the respective engaged positions by a shaft (48) secured for rotation with the housing. The shaft acts on cams (38) and (40) on the drive couplings to cause rotational and axial movement of the couplings. Rotational movement of one drive coupling relative to the other drive coupling is prevented by a balking clamp (76). The clutches (54) and (56) are inserted within the housing through a window (14). The axles are retained by "C" clips (80) contacting spline couplings (26) and (28).

摘要： A differential gear drive having two output shafts 10, 13 each coupled through a differential gear train to a common input gear 1. The differential gear train comprises an annulus gear 4 engaging the input gear 1, planet gears 5, 6 and a sun wheel 7. The output shaft 10 is connected to a planet carrier 8 and the output shaft 13 is connected to the sun wheel 7. A pair of cam rings 15 and 16 are rotatably coupled to the respective output shafts 10, 13 and are respectively coupled via clutch teeth 19, 20 to clutch rings 17 and 18 respectively, which are engageable separately with a pair of meshing reference gears 29 and 2. The reference gear 2 is rotatably fixed by a countershaft 3 to the input gear 1. When both output shafts 10, 13 are driving against substantially equal torques the clutch rings 17, 18 are both disengaged from the reference gear 29 and so the drive to each shaft 10, 13 is via the differential gear train. However when one of the output shafts commences to loose resistance torque, the respective clutch ring engages the reference gear 29 and so a reaction via the reference gears is provided for the other output shaft, thereby maintaining traction in the case of a motor vehicle.
