摘要： The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of modifying turbine engine operating limits due to the intake of particulate matter. More specifically, the present disclosure is directed to the use of a sensor at the inlet of a turbine engine to measure the characteristics of particulate flow into the turbine engine such as the volume, density, flow rate, size, shape, and surface type of particulate matter. Based on these measurements, the operating limits of the turbine engine are adjusted due to known degrading effects of particulate matter intake. The adjusted operating limits may include real-time operating limits such as maximum temperature and pressure, or long-range operating limits such as engine lifespan and maintenance cycles.

The method may include assessing a concentration of standard particles in the standard particle solution from the inspection. The method may include assessing a difference between the assessed concentration of standard particles and the known concentration of standard particles. The method may include modifying one or more parameters of the optical analysis instrument based on the assessed difference between the concentrations. The method may include assessing a detection efficiency of the optical analysis instrument.

摘要： An optical system suitable for determining a characteristic as a function of time of at least a part of a liquid volume comprising a plurality of objects. The optical system provides a fast detection of a change in the liquid volume. The optical system comprises - an optical detection assembly comprising at least one image acquisition device configured to acquire images of an image acquisition area; - a sample device comprising at least one sample container suitable for holding a sample of said liquid volume; - a translating arrangement configured to translate said image acquisition area through at least one part of said sample container to perform a scan along a scanning path through said part of said sample container; and - an image analyzing processing system. 摘要： Methods, systems and devices are described for rapid characterization and screening of liquid samples to determine properties (e.g., particle size, particle size distribution, molar mass and/or molar mass distribution) thereof with static light scattering and/or dynamic light scattering. The liquid samples can be solutions, emulsions, suspensions or dispersions. One method, includes providing a vessel containing a liquid sample having an exposed surface that defines a gas-liquid sample interface, and analyzing the sample by light scattering methods that include transmitting light through the gas-liquid sample interface into the sample, and detecting light scattered from the sample or from a component thereof. Additional methods are directed to characterizing a plurality of liquid samples or components thereof. The methods, systems, and devices have applications in high-throughput screening, and particularly, in combinatorial materials research and in industrial process control.

摘要： The invention features devices and methods for enriching a sample in one or more desired particles. An exemplary use of these devices and methods is for the enrichment of cells, e.g., white blood cells in a blood sample. In general, the methods of the invention employ a device that contains at least one sieve through which particles of a given size, shape, or deformability can pass. Devices of the invention have at least two outlets, and the sieve is placed such that a continuous flow of fluid can pass through the device without passing through the sieve. The devices also include a force generator for directing selected particles through the sieve. Such force generators employ, for example, diffusion, electrophoresis, dielectrophoresis, centrifugal force, or pressure-driven flow.
