    • A driving force transmitting device including a power plant (10) that generates a driving force, an input shaft (94) to which the driving force generated by the power plant (10) is inputted, an output shaft (95) to which the driving force inputted to the input shaft (94) is outputted, and a main clutch (101) that intermittently transmits the driving force transmitted to the output shaft (95) from the input shaft (94), comprising:
      a primary clutch (136,137) that intermittently transmits the driving force transmitted from the input shaft at the side of the input shaft from the main clutch;
      a hydraulic pump (202) that generates a hydraulic pressure;
      a piston (151) that presses the primary clutch (136,137) by the hydraulic pressure generated by the hydraulic pump; and
      a cam mechanism (132,133) that is fitted to the primary clutch (136,137), and that presses the main clutch (101) with a press-contact force amplified more than the press-contact force of the piston (151) by utilizing the driving force inputted from the input shaft (94) through the primary clutch with the primary clutch engaged by the piston (151), so as to engage the main clutch (101).

    • A torque transfer mechanism having a transfer clutch connecting a pair of rotary members and a electrohydraulic clutch actuator for controlling engagement of the transfer clutch. The clutch actuator includes a hydraulic pump and a hydraulically-actuated rotary operator. The hydraulic pump draws low pressure fluid from a sump and delivers high pressure fluid to a series of actuation chambers defined between coaxially aligned first and second components of the rotary operator. The magnitude of the fluid pressure delivered to the actuation chamber controls angular movement of the second component relative to the first component for energizing a pilot ball ramp unit. The pilot ball ramp mechanism applies a clutch actuation force on a pilot friction clutch which energized a main ball ramp unit for applying a clutch engagement force to a main friction clutch. A hydraulic control system adaptively regulates the fluid pressure delivered to the actuation chamber.
