    • The invention relates to a twist beam axle for a wheel suspension of a motor vehicle. The twist beam axle comprises two trailing arms (2, 3) and a torsional profile (1) with end portions which are of non-circular cross section and which are of substantially prismatic form, wherein in each case one trailing arm (2, 3) is connected to in each case one torsional profile end portion. The twist beam axle is characterized in that the trailing arms (2, 3) have a receiving recess (13) of corresponding form to the outer surface of the torsional profile end portion (1). Here, there is arranged in the interior space of the respective torsional profile end portion (1) in each case one inwardly pressed-in press-fit plug (12). The invention provides a twist beam axle by means of which a permanent transmission of high bending moments and torques between the trailing arms and torsional profile is ensured without welded connections. It is possible for different material classes to be used for the torsional profile and the trailing arms and to be connected to one another, for example light metal with steel or fiber composite material. The twist beam axle permits generally the use of large-volume, thin-walled and thus weight-saving torsional profiles.
