    • This fuel injection valve has an injector plate (23) arranged downstream of a valve seat (29). The injector plate is characterised in that a plurality of swirl-generating elements (40) are arranged at its inflow side and are followed by at least one uninterrupted ring-shaped slot (45). The swirl-generating elements (40) are arranged in the manner of a blade wheel, in that each individual element (40) extends substantially in the radial direction and is tilted in the circumferential direction, and in that the elements (40) follow each other in a circle. The ring-shaped slot (45) defines the injection geometry. This arrangement allows fuel to be finely and uniformly sprayed without requiring additional energy. The breaking-down into smallest droplets results in a further reduction of the internal combustion engine exhaust fume emission and also in a reduction of fuel consumption. This fuel injection valve is particularly useful for fuel injection systems of high compression ratio, spark-ignited internal combustion engines.
