    • The proposed electronically controllable brake operating system for motor vehicles comprises a main brake cylinder (2) which can be operated by a pedal (1); brake pressure generators (3-6) controlled by an electronic control unit (13), each brake pressure generator having a piston (33-36) which can slide in a cylinder bore from an initial position which facilitates a return stroke, and each piston separating one working chamber (53-56), which is connected (directly) to a vehicle wheel brake (7-10) and (via an electromagnetically actuated first separation valve (14, 16, 17, 19)) to the main cylinder (2), from a second working chamber (63, 64, 65, 66) connected to the main cylinder (2). As a way of improving the feel of the pedal, especially during anti-lock brake operations, while also improving the anti-lock control, it is proposed according to the invention that an electromagnetically actuated second separation valve (15, 18) should be incorporated in the connection (11, 12) between the main cylinder (2) and the second working chamber (63, 64, 65, 66), and that it should be possible to operate the piston (33, 36) of the brake pressure generator to generate or increase brake pressure.

    • The invention concerns a pressure control valve having a valve tappet (2) which is disposed in the valve housing (1) so as to be axially movable and, in a first switching position, produces a pressure medium connection between a first pressure medium port (5) opening into the valve housing (1) and a second pressure medium port (6) opening into the valve housing (1). In a second switching position, the valve tappet (2) interrupts the pressure medium connection between the first pressure medium port (5) and the second pressure medium port (6) and, in a third switching position, produces a pressure medium connection between the second pressure medium port (6) and a third pressure medium port (17). To this end, a valve closure member (18), which can be axially displaced by the valve tappet (2), is raised off its valve seat. A further valve closure member (3) is disposed in the valve housing (1) so as to be displaceable relative to the valve tappet (2) and, in a first actuating position of the valve tappet (2), produces an unobstructed pressure medium connection between the first pressure medium port (5) and the second pressure medium port (6). In a further actuating position, the valve closure member (3) interrupts the pressure medium connection between the first and second pressure medium ports (5, 6). In the first actuating position, the valve closure member (3) has a valve opening cross-section which constantly adjusts the pressure medium volume flow between the first and second pressure medium ports (5, 6).

Low-pressure stores (51, 52) are connected to the pressure chambers of the brake pressure transmitters (4, 5) and connected to the wheel brakes (7, 8) in the released position of the brake pressure transmitters (4, 5).

    • An electronically controllable brake operating system is proposed for motor vehicles. The system comprises: a simulator which co-operates with the main brake cylinder; a pressure source commanded by an electronic control unit and used for applying pressure to vehicle wheel brakes capable of being connected via at least one hydraulic link to the main brake cylinder, said link(s) being closed off if necessary by separator valves; a device for detecting the driver's desire to decelerate; an inlet and outlet valve connected upstream of each wheel brake; and wheel sensors to determine the rotational characteristics of the vehicle wheels. In order to improve the precision with which the brake pressure can be adjusted in a system of this type, particularly in the low pressure range, it is proposed that the pressure source should take the form of at least one continuously adjustable piston-cylinder unit (9), the pressure chamber (10) of which can be connected both to the main brake cylinder (2) and to the wheel brakes (7, 8).
