    • A filter installation has a pivotably mounted flap (13), a filter head (15) mounted on the flap, a filter cartridge (16) mounted on the filter head. Flexible piping (18,19) is provided for supplying fluid to be filtered to the filter head and removing filtered fluid from the filter head. The flexible piping allows the flap (13) to be pivoted to an access position in which the cartridge is readily accessible for installation or removal. The installation is particularly suitable to be used on a vehicle such as a tractor in which the pivotable flap is the door on a battery box or other compartment of the vehicle. The filter cartridge can be used to filter biofuel for an engine of the tractor or to filter hydraulic fluid or transmission fluid.

    • What is described is a mobile high voltage network to supply electrical consumer units connected via a plug-in connector and which can be switched on and off by means of mechanical switches, with a fuse responding in the event of a short circuit.
      Well know mobile high voltage networks carry alternating voltage. With a view to the greatest possible flexibility, a high degree of efficiency, a low expenditure on components as well as a reasonably priced solution, including expenditure on power electronics, the losses through the power electronics as well as the expenditure for the stabilisation of the mains frequency and the mains voltage, these high voltage networks based on power transmission by means of alternating or direct current are however uneconomical.
      A high voltage network of the type described in the introduction hereto is to be created, that can be operated and monitored economically.
      For this the high voltage network carries a direct voltage and to each electrical consumer unit (8; 10) a separate diagnostic and protection monitoring system is assigned which is activated when it is switched on and/or off.
      Such a direct voltage and high voltage network in conjunction with the diagnostic and protection monitoring system makes it possible, before starting up any circuit of consumer units to effect a self-diagnosis of the protection monitoring system, to ensure that all components are fully functional. Without this self-diagnosis with proof of functionality the relevant circuit of consumer units is not switched on.

    • A drive for a cooling fan at motor vehicles including a main cooling circuit and at least one secondary cooling circuit using a fluid friction clutch including a control element for the drive of the cooling fan is described.
      In case of a plurality of cooling circuits, such fluid friction clutches do not react as desired by actuating the cooling fan.
      To prevent this disadvantage, a drive for a cooling fan being drivable by a fluid friction clutch is to be provided, in which the cooling fan starts operation as soon as there is a requirement in at least one of the cooling circuits.
      For this reason, temperature sensors (40, 41, 51) are allocated to selected secondary cooling circuits (5, 6) and a further control element (31) is allocated to the working chamber (19) to bypass the control element (21), the control element (31) freeing a further opening (30) being located in the separating wall (18) when predetermined temperatures and temperature ranges, respectively, are attained in at least one of the selected secondary cooling circuits (5, 6), the opening (30) not being influenced by the control element (21).
