    • A blower housing (14) for use with an engine (10). The blower housing (14) is adapted to receive a stream of intake air, and the engine (10) includes at least one cylinder. The blower housing (14) includes an intake opening (38), an air filter (70) housed within a filter compartment (74), and an air flow duct (82) adjacent to the filter compartment (74). The air flow duct (82) is configured to direct air to the at least one cylinder. The air flow duct (82) includes a first surface (86) and a second surface (90), the first surface (86) being angled with respect to the second surface (90) to deflect the air passing through the duct (82) away from the first surface (86) toward the second surface (90). The first surface (86) separates the air into a first portion and a second portion having deflected particulate matter therein. The duct (82) also has an aperture (96) that allows air to flow from the duct (82) to the air filter (70), and an exhaust window (92).

    • The present invention provides a slippage apparatus adapted for use with a vegetation cutting device (26) including a blade (22) and a prime mover (18) having an output shaft (14). The slippage apparatus includes an adapter (38) rotatable with the blade (22). The adapter also includes a bore (94) defining a sidewall (98). The slippage apparatus also includes an insert (30) received in the bore (94). The insert (30) includes an aperture (46) to receive the output shaft (14), a first radial thickness, and a second radial thickness defining a groove (54) having a bottom surface spaced from the sidewall. The second radial thickness is less than the first radial thickness. The insert also includes a first key (70) extending toward a central axis (74) of the output shaft that engages a keyway (82) in the output shaft. The first key is positioned adjacent the groove. The insert is adapted to at least partially crack at the groove when the blade strikes an object.
