    • A load beam (20) is attached to an actuator arm that is allowed to rock around a pivotal axis by a voice coil motor, etc., as a slider supporting member, the base end of a flexure (30) is attached to the load beam (20) with the free end thereof being left, a slider supporting member (32) is attached to the top portion of the flexure (30), a slider (50) on which a recording/reproduction head (60) is installed is secured to the slider supporting member (32), and the slider supporting member (32) is supported by a protrusion (28) placed on the free end side of the load beam (20) so as to be freely pivot thereon. A pair of thin-film piezoelectric elements (40a, 40b) are bonded to the flexure (30) as displacement members. In a tracking compensation operation of the head, forces are exerted on the slider supporting member (32) through the elastic hinge portion by extending and contracting operations of the pair of thin-film piezoelectric elements so that the slider (50) is allowed to pivot around the protrusion (28) of the load beam serving as the center of pivotal movements, together with the slider supporting member (32).

    • A near-field optical recording apparatus for recording information in a recording medium (22), and a near-field optical recording and regenerating apparatus for recording information in a recording medium, and reading the information recorded in the recording medium. The apparatuses contain a light source which generates recording light; a micro-aperture probe (14a) which has at an end thereof a light-pass aperture having a diameter smaller than a wavelength of the recording light, receives from the other end thereof the recording light, and radiates near-field light (11E) on a portion of the recording medium to record the information; and an assistive heating unit (14d,30,32) which is capable of assistively heating at least the above portion of the recording medium for a duration corresponding to radiation of the near-field light on the portion. The near-field optical recording and regenerating apparatus further radiates near-field light onto a portion of the recording medium to read the recorded information, and contains a control unit which activates the assistive heating unit when recording the information, and deactivates the assistive heating unit when reading the information.
