    • The invention relates to a clamping and/or emergency braking device (30) to be mounted on a carriage (20) that is guided by means of at least one guide rail (10), said guide rail having at least one engaging contour (15). The device comprises at least one frictional locking mechanism having at least one friction shoe (120) that can be pressed against the guide rail against the effective direction of the retaining force (19) of the engaging contour. The frictional locking mechanism can be displaced in one direction by means of the elastic force of at least one spring element (122, 123) and can be displaced in the opposite direction by means of a feed force, generated by a drive (60). At least one single-stage drive mechanism (70) is interposed between the drive (60) producing the clamping force and the friction shoe. The invention provides a braking and/or clamping device that produces a strong clamping force, has a simple design, requires little installation space and is permanently maintenance-free.

    • The inventive actuating unit for an electromechanical disc brake for a motor vehicle comprises a lever arrangement (3) placed between an actuating electric motor and a friction lining (4) of said disc brake. Said lever arrangement consists of a first lever (10) mounted at a level of a hinge point (A or 40) in a stationary manner with respect to a brake calliper (1), and a second lever (20) connected to an actuating element (7) by a driving force. Said actuating element is connected to the friction lining with the aid of an adjusting device (30) which is used for compensating the wear-out of the friction linings (4, 5). In order to reduce to a minimum the power demand of the electrical power drive system and the energy demand of the brake along the life service thereof, the adjusting device (30) is constructed in such a way that the efficient transmission range of the lever arrangement (10, 20) is carried into effect by modifying a deviation (A-C) between the hinge point (A or 40) and a force application point (C or 60) of the adjustment unit (30) to the actuating unit (7), the operating air gap between the friction lining (4, 5) and the brake pad (6) being maintained permanent.
