摘要： PURPOSE:To automate cylindrical shaped article packaging work and save labor in the said work, by inserting a mandrel in the inner hole of a cylindrical shaped article, then releasing a paper end holding equipment, and expanding a multiple number of segments on the mandrel one by one. CONSTITUTION:A mandrel is set at the center of an inner hole 1a of a coil to be packaged 1; under a condition where a packaging paper 10 is wound around the mandrel, and the paper end is held by a holding equipment 36, the mandrel is inserted in the bore of the coil to be packaged; by a segment expanding screw 32 and the operation mechanism 31, the outer diameter of the mandrel is expanded to a required dimension when necessary. The paper end holding equipment 36 is made to retreat; a short stroke cylinder for individual segment 34-1-8 is operated as 33-1-8; the packaging paper 10 is spread on the internal hole 1a of the coil to be packaged 1. The overlapped portion of the packaging paper 10 will locate at a same position with a taping equipment 40; under that condition, the taping equipment is made to operate to conduct a taping in the axial direction of the coil to be packaged 1 along the overlapped portion of the internal packaging paper; thus the installation of the internal packaging paper is completed.

摘要： A method and apparatus for making a cylindrical package in which a cylindrically shaped coil of a long steel strip having a peripheral surface, two end surfaces and a hollow cylindrical center is completely wrapped with a wrapping sheet material so as to have neatly folded closures on both end surfaces with a ring member inserted into the cylindrical hollow center of the coil. At first the wrapping sheet is wrapped around the coil so as to project from either end of the coil by a length l greater than the thickness t between the outermost layer and the innermost layer of the coil. The projecting portions are folded onto the end surfaces by pusher plates with pleat forming rods provided therebetween to form crease lines. The pleated portions of the sheet are flattened onto the folded sheet by the sliding action of pusher plates, and then a ring member is fitted into the cylindrical hollow center of the coil at either end with the edges of the folded sheet pressed underneath so that the wrapping is completed without use of an adhesive.
