    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain an appropriate size of a communication area even under a noise environment in an electronic key system.SOLUTION: An RSSI measurement signal Srs transmitted from an on-vehicle device 20 to an electronic key 10 has ON time and OFF time set. In the ON time a signal level is amplified and in the OFF time a signal level is fixed at zero. An RSSI detection circuit 16 detects an RSSI of the RSSI measurement signal Srs across the ON time and OFF time in plural times. A determination unit 25 determines, based on the detection result of the RSSI detection circuit 16 (an average value Vav of each RSSI of the RSSI measurement signal Srs), that noise is applied to the RSSI measurement signal Srs. If determination is made that noise is applied, because there is no confirmation that the electronic key 10 exists in a communication area, from then on communication is not performed between the on-vehicle device 20 and the electronic key 10.
