    • A crankchamber precompression type two-cycle internal combustion engine including cylinder assemblies of an even number consists of at least one pair of cylinder assemblies having working cycles with 180.degree. phase difference, each cylinder assembly having a stepped cylinder constituted by a minor diameter cylinder portion and a major diameter cylinder portion, a stepped piston received in the stepped cylinder and constituted by a minor diameter piston portion and a major diameter piston portion, the minor diameter and major diameter piston portions being in sliding engagement with the minor diameter and the major diameter cylinder portions of the stepped cylinder respectively to provide an annular space serving as sub-intake chamber in the major diameter portions of the cylinders, the sub-intake chambers being connected to an auxiliary scavenging nozzle oriented toward a combustion chamber of the other associated cylinder. The sub-intake chambers are connected to auxiliary carburetors set beforehand in such a manner that they form a mixture of fuel of high quality and air, and crankchambers of the cylinders are connected to main carburetors set beforehand in such a manner that they form a mixture of fuel of low quality and air. By this arrangement, the mixture of fuel of high quality and air is first ignited in the combustion chambers to produce flame surfaces in a large area to enable complete combustion of the mixture of fuel of low quality with air to be achieved.

    • A cooling system of a liquid-cooled multicylinder engine of the two cycle type, wherein a crank shaft is journalled by bearings housed in bearing housings of a small diameter mounting therein airtight seal members as well as the bearings and located at opposite end portions and an intermediate portion of a crank case consisting of upper and lower members, cylinders are arranged on the upper end surface of the upper crank case member, and each cylinder has a suction conduit attached to one side thereof and an exhaust conduit attached to the other side thereof, includes a centrifugal pump driven by the crank shaft for circulating a cooling liquid and located in a recess on the suction side of the crank case between cylinders, with the axis of the pump being parallel to the crank shaft. The centrifugal pump is formed at its lower end portion with a pump outlet extending substantially horizontally and connected to a suction side inlet of a liquid passage extending along the underside and the exhaust side of the bearing housing in the intermediate portion of the crank case, and a liquid jacket communicating with the liquid passage is mounted on the entire exhaust side portion of the upper crank case member and has an upper outlet connected to another liquid jacket in each of the cylinders at the interface between the crank case and the cylinders.

    • An air cleaner for an engine of a snow mobile provided with an endless vehicle track driven by the engine, includes an air cleaner main body comprising a duct extending longitudinally of the snow mobile and disposed on a floor covering of the endless vehicle track. The air cleaner main body is connected at its forward end to a carburetor for the engine and includes a rearward portion formed with a plurality of air inlet apertures. A riders' seat is mounted on the rear portion of the air cleaner main body and includes a shock-absorbing member for enclosing the air inlet apertures and an outer cover member for covering the shock-absorbing member. The shock-absorbing member serves concurrently as a cleaning element of the air cleaner, and at least one air intake port is formed in the outer cover of the seat at its rear end or one or both of its sides. The air cleaner main body is formed with an increased volume section which serves as a muffler for silencing engine intake noises.
