    • This invention provides a ground-speed measuring apparatus for a vehicle that can detect a velocity along the movement of the vehicle (in the fore direction), a velocity across the movement of the vehicle (in the athwartships direction), a side-skid angle of the vehicle, and an angular velocity of the vehicle.A ground-speed measuring apparatus comprising three or more transceivers each of which contains a transmitter for transmitting a wave and a receiver for receiving a reflection of the wave transmitted from the transmitter, wherein at least three of said transceivers are placed outside a cylindrical area whose axis of symmetry passes through a point on the floor of the vehicle, three straight lines which respectively pass through said transceivers perpendicularly thereto intersect with each other or skewed in said cylindrical area, and the transmitter of each transceiver is at a preset angle with the floor of the vehicle.

    • An improved piezoelectric sensor for detecting pressure, vibration, acceleration or the like physical quantity is disclosed. The pressure sensor to be attached to a cylinder block of an internal combustion engine includes a main body adapted to be attached to the cylinder and defining an axially extending hole therewithin, a diaphragm attached to one end of the main body for closing the hole; and a piezoelectric element disposed within the hole so that the pressure within the cylinder is transmitted to the piezoelectric element through the diaphragm. The piezoelectric element is a circular or polygonal disc with a thickness of 0.3-1.5 mm and is formed of a single crystal piezoelectric ceramic having a Curie temperature greater than 500.degree. C., such as LiNbO.sub.3.

    • A fluid control solenoid valve comprises a housing defining therein a fluid passage including a valve seat having a valve port for allowing the passage of the fluid. A plunger having a valve body and movable between a valve closed position and a valve open position is slidably guided by a plunger guide with a sliding contact region therebetween. A biasing spring biases the valve toward the closed position, and a solenoid coil is disposed for magnetically driving the plunger to the open position against the spring action. The solenoid valve further comprises a nonmagnetic cover disposed around the plunger for substantially closing the sliding contact region between the plunger and the plunger guide against ingress of any foreign matter entrained in the fluid.
