    • A display apparatus having a displaying part on which an image is displayed, includes: a backlight unit comprising a plurality of light emitting elements that emit different color light which illuminates the displaying part, the plurality of light emitting elements being arranged in a predetermined pattern; a driving part that applies driving current to the backlight unit to control the operation of the light emitting elements and the intensity of light emitted from each of the light emitting elements; a sensing part that senses the amount of light emitted from the backlight unit; and a controller that detects a level of driving current applied to the backlight unit by the driving part, and if the detected level of driving current exceeds a predetermined reference current level, controls the driving part to adjust the backlight unit based on the amount of light sensed by the sensing part.

    • A liquid crystal display (LCD) and method of adjusting brightness for the LCD are provided. The LCD includes a light emitter including a plurality of luminescent bodies which are divided into a predetermined number of partial areas, a backlight driver connected to the light emitter to control the brightness of each of the partial areas of the light emitter, and a controller for calculating a representative value for adjusting the brightness of each of the partial areas of the light emitter in accordance with an input image signal and outputting the representative value as a brightness adjustment signal for adjusting the brightness of each of the partial areas to the backlight driver. Thus, the brightness of each of partial areas of a backlight can be adjusted in accordance with the input image signal to improve a contrast ratio. Also, a representative value to be used for adjusting the brightness of each of the partial areas can be lowered by a predetermined ratio to effectively reduce power needed for lighting the backlight. Also, light loss and light gain occurring between neighboring partial areas can be compensated to improve the contrast ratio, and image artifacts can be reduced.

    • An output timing control circuit of a semiconductor apparatus includes a delay amount counter block configured to count a delay amount of an output reset pulse signal based on an external clock signal and output a first counting code, wherein the delay amount counter block is configured to control the delay amount of the output reset pulse signal depending upon a frequency of the external clock signal; an operation block configured to subtract a code value of the first counting code from a code value of a data output delay code, and output a delay control code; and a phase control block configured to control a phase of a read command signal by the number of clocks of a DLL clock signal corresponding to a code value of the delay control code, and output an output enable flag signal.
