In addition, horizontal direction electromagnetic type actuators 41a, 41b controlling horizontal vibration of the floor plate 7 are arranged in the floor slab 7. On the basis of output from an acceleration sensor 40 arranged on the floor slab 7, the vertical direction vibration damping mechanisms 5 and the horizontal direction electromagnetic type actuators 41a, 41b are driven and controlled so as to damp the vibration in the floor slab 7.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the procedure of the execution of works, and to facilitate maintenance and inspection by damping vibrations in the vertical and horizontal directions by a vertical vibration damping mechanism and a vertical and horizontal energy absorbing mechanism, installing a stopper mechanism and controlling a moving region in the horizontal direction. SOLUTION: When relative vibrations are generated between an upper building frame 3 and a lower structure 4, vertical vibrations are damped by coil springs 12. Projecting bodies 18 are arranged into the recessed section 16 of a bottomed vessel 17 and the outer circumferential surfaces of the projecting bodies 18 and the inner circumferential surfaces of the side wall sections 31 of the bottomed vessel 17 are brought into contact in horizontal vibrations. Cushioning bodies 20 are disposed onto the outer circumferential surfaces of the projecting bodies 18 and the deformation of the cushioning bodies 20 is damped by horizontal vibrations at that time, and the projecting bodies 18 and the side wall sections 31 collide through the cushioning bodies 20 at the time of large horizontal vibrations. A moving region in the horizontal direction of an upper baseplate 7 to a lower baseplate 9 is controlled by reinforcing wall sections 34 mounted on the sides of the side wall sections 31. Accordingly, a stopper mechanism 2 can be set up into the vibration-proof device 1 and the separate disposal works of the stopper mechanism 2 are unnecessitated, and the procedure of the execution of works is simplified and operating efficiency can be improved.
