摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which secures both a high contrast ratio and a wide viewing angle simultaneously, and not only attains a fast response speed of liquid crystal molecules, but also exhibits superior display characteristics.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate which face each other, a liquid crystal layer which is disposed between the first substrate and second substrate and contains liquid crystal molecules, and a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode which are arranged on the first substrate and separated from each other. The first pixel electrode and second pixel electrode include stems included in the first pixel electrode and second pixel electrode respectively, and a plurality of branch electrodes extending from the stems. The branch electrodes of the first pixel electrode and the branch electrodes of the second pixel electrode are arranged alternately, the liquid crystal display device has a first region in which intervals between branch parts of the first pixel electrode and adjacent branch parts of the second pixel electrodes are first intervals and a second region in which branch parts of the first pixel electrodes and adjacent branch parts of the second pixel electrode are second intervals, the first region including a region in which neither of the stems of the first pixel electrode and second pixel electrode is arranged at an end of a pixel region.

One of the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode is applied with first voltage via a data line, while the other of the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode is applied with second voltage via a voltage transmission line. Each of the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode includes a trunk and a plurality of branch electrodes extending from the trunk. The branch electrodes of the first pixel electrode and the branch electrodes of the second pixel electrode are arranged alternately. The trunks of the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode overlap at least partially with the voltage transmission line.

The liquid crystal display device in one embodiment includes: a first substrate and a second substrate which oppose to each other; a liquid crystal layer which is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a first data line which is disposed above the first substrate; a pixel electrode which is disposed above the first substrate and to which a data voltage is applied from the first data line; a common electrode which is disposed above the first substrate and overlaps at least a part of the pixel electrode, and the first data line; and a protective film which comprises a substance having a dielectric constant of 3.5 or less and includes a first part disposed between the common electrode and the first data line. One of the pixel electrode and the common electrode includes a plurality of branch electrodes spaced apart from one another, and the other electrode is in a planar form.
