    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified inorganic pigment especially useful for an inkjet recording unit providing silver salt photographic gloss, hardly causing bleeding of an image and having excellent light resistance. SOLUTION: The modified inorganic pigment is obtained by modifying the surface of an inorganic pigment with a treating liquid containing a hydrophilic resin having ≥4.0 meq/g cation equivalent, an amino group-containing silane coupling agent, an organic acid and an inorganic acid. The method for producing the modified inorganic pigment sol includes dispersing the inorganic pigment in the treating liquid obtained by dissolving the amino group-containing silane coupling agent in a polar solvent, adding the organic acid and the inorganic acid thereto, and further adding at least one hydrophilic resin selected from a polyvinylamine, a polyallylamine, a poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) and a polymer containing a 5-membered cyclic amidine structure.
