    • A seat belt tensioning device for a vehicle comprises a cylinder, a piston which is slidably inserted within the cylinder and a piston operating means.The piston is composed of a first and a second cylindrical piston members which are adjacent to each other.The seat belt tensioning device further comprises a rod which is connected to a seat belt and is contacted with the second piston member by passing a deformable member, which is plastically deformed by a predetermined tension force through the first piston member. The deformable member is disposed adjacent to the second piston member and connected to the rod by passing through the first and second members.The rod and the second piston member form a conical continuously inclined surface of which diameter is enlarged in the piston moving direction near the contact portion thereof. Stopper pieces having a sharp end portion are radially supported by the conical continuously inclined surface.When the tension force of the seat belt exceeds the plastically deforming load of the deformable member at an urgent time, such as upon a vehicle impact, the deformable member is plastically deformed by the second piston member and elongated and the stopper pieces are lifted up by the taper portion of the second piston member to cut into the cylinder.As a result, the piston is locked in the cylinder and the kinetic energy of the passenger can be absorbed.Therefore, the passenger is prevented from the secondary impact and the injury due to the tensioned seat belt.

    • A seat belt tensioning device having a piston return stop device including a tapered member with an inclined surface rising toward one end which is slidably disposed within an axial hole of a piston and is connected to the piston through a connecting member breakable by a predetermined tension force. The other end of the tapered member is connected with a seat belt. Stopper members are slidably disposed within radial guide grooves of the piston and at their outer ends are slidably in contact with an inner wall of a piston cylinder while their inner ends are in contact with the tapered member.When the tension force of the seat belt reaches a predetermined value at an urgent time, the connecting member is broken and the tapered member is moved within the piston in a direction reverse to the travelling direction of the piston to push the stopper members toward the cylinder wall. Then the outer ends of the stopper members cut into the cylinder wall so that the return of the piston is stopped with certainty.

    • A rotary seat for a vehicle has a seat cushion member rotably supported on a support shaft vertically mounted on the vehicle floor. Driving apparatus is connected to the seat cushion member for automatically rotating the seat cushion member between a direction toward the front of the vehicle and a direction toward a side door of the vehicle when the seat cushion member is not occupied. Disconnecting equipment is included for disconnecting the driving apparatus from the seat cushion member to allow the seat cushion member to be manually rotated when the seat cushion member is occupied. Control devices are provided for controlling the driving apparatus and the disconnecting equipment to place the seat cushion member in an automatic rotating mode or a manual rotating mode depending upon whether the seat is occupied.

    • A wiper device for a vehicle, has a sub-arm turnably supported by a vehicle body through a supporting shaft provided in a base end thereof. An arm shaft is turnably provided in a tip end of the sub-arm and a base end of a wiper arm is fixed to the arm shaft. The supporting shaft has a cylindrical shape and a drive shaft is inserted into the cylindrical supporting shaft. One end of the drive shaft on the side of the sub-arm, is connected to the arm shaft by a gear mechanism and the other end of the drive shaft is connected to a drive source and is reciprocally turned thereby. To the outer surface of the supporting shaft is fixed a Geneva gear. On a circular plate turnably connected to the drive source is an eccentrically provided pin. When the arm shaft is outside a predetermined turn angle range, the pin is fitted in a notch of the Geneva gear to turn the supporting shaft and when the arm shaft is within a predetermined turn angle range, the pin is disengaged from the notch of the Geneva gear to stop the supporting shaft from turning.
