    • PURPOSE:To economize energy during heat insulation and to provide conservation of refractories in a heat insulating method of a hot stove during blowing down of a blast furnace by supplying a mixture composed of combustion gas and insert gas to a main burner to be used during operation of the hot stove. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber 9 of a hot stove has a main air pipe 10 and a main gas pipe 11. The pipe 11 has a piping 12 for, for example, coke furnace gas (COG) and a piping 13 for inert gas, for example, N2. The N2 is blown into the pipe 11 and is mixed with the air therein at the intermediate of the gas valves 14 and 15 of the pipe 11. The mixture composed of the COG and N2 is thus supplied to a main burner, and the hot stove is insulated of heat by the combustion of the main burner. If the N2 is mixed with the air in such a way, the length of the flame is made longer and the temp. in the dome part is increased, by which the purpose is achieved.

At the same time, the temp. difference between the under surface and the upper surface of the lowermost stage of the silica brick grid stacking part of the checker is held to 400 deg.C or less and the silica checker of the checker is prevented from being damaged by cracking due to expansion and contraction.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate the next castable refractory filling operation in a short period of time by a method wherein a castable refractory filling hole is drilled in the damaged part of furnace wall and a castable refractory is filled, then, while it is semisolidified, a through-hole is opened, and an inert gas is injected through it. CONSTITUTION:A desired number of castable refractory filling holes 4a are drilled, at proper positions, into the damaged part of furnace wall. The holes are drilled to the inner surface of refractory bricks 2 or the inner surface of the iron shell 1 so that the castable refractory can be filled smoothly. A castable refractory feeder 11 is connected to the holes 4a and then a castable refractory layer 5 is formed in the furnace. After filling, while the castable refractory is semisolidified, a hole 6 is opened through the castable refractory layer 5 to reach the furnace inside. An inert gas feeder pipe 7 is connected to the holes 4a, and, from the end of the through-hole 6, gas is projected to prevent the hole 6 from being blocked with foreign material. In this manner, the through-hole of the specified dimensions is secured until the next castable refractory filling operation.
