    • PURPOSE:To obtain a fused flux for welding contg. diffusible hydrogen at a smaller ratio with good productivity by cooling efficiently and quickly the flux without contact at all with a cooling medium. CONSTITUTION:A rotary drum 5 is rotated and the refrigerant is supplied from a supply pipe 10 and is discharged from a discharge pipe 11 through flow passages 12, 13 to cool the surface 5-1 of the drum 5; at the same time, the refrigerant is supplied from a supply pipe 14 and is discharged from a discharge pipe 15 through a flow passage 16 to cool a stationary flask 6 as well. The molten flux 2 is dropped through a flux pool 4 onto the drum 5 rotating in an arrow B direction and is quickly cooled during passage through a spacing 18 formed of the drum 5 and the flask body 6 and is thereby solidified to a flake or bar shape. The solidified flux is discharged as the glassy solid flux from the lower part. The solidified flux mentioned above is pulverized and is then adjusted to a prescribed grain size. The flux having prescribed quality is thus produced with good efficiency by the above-mentioned method.

    • PURPOSE:To heat insulate a hot blast stove by reduced fuel while preventing the damage of the silica brick of a checker, by partially holding the temp. of silica brick of the checker in the hot blast stove to a specific temp. range during the shutdown of the hot blast stove due to the shutdown of operation of a shaft furnace. CONSTITUTION:In an external combustion type hot blast stove wherein a heat storing chamber 1 and the dome parts 15, 16 of a combustion chamber 2 are connected by a communication pipe 4 or an internal combustion type hot blast stove having the heat storing chamber 1 and the combustion chamber 2 in the same cylinder, when the operation of a shaft furnace to which said hot blast stove belongs is shut down, the hot blast stove is heated and heat insulated until the operation thereof is again started. At the same time, the temp. difference between the under surface and the upper surface of the lowermost stage of the silica brick grid stacking part of the checker is held to 400 deg.C or less and the silica checker of the checker is prevented from being damaged by cracking due to expansion and contraction.
