    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance cooling properties for a rotating shaft, a rotor, a stator and the like, and also enhance braking performance. SOLUTION: A braking device for a rolling stock is provided with an air conducting passage 25 which is formed in a rotating shaft 5 so that air taken in out of an introducing port 21 opened to the side face of the boss part 9 of the rotating shaft 5 is so designed as to be exhausted to a spline part 13 at the outer circumference of the boss part, an inclined groove 24 which is formed in the groove bottom of the spline part 13 communicated with the air conducting passage 25 in such a way as to be gradually shallow as it goes far in the axial direction, and with an exhaust passage 28 which is partitioned so as to be formed among the inclined groove 24, a rotor 10 and the inner circumference of a stator 11. Air sucked in from an intake air introducing port as the rotating shaft 5 is rotated, is forwarded to the spline part 13 by centrifugal force received by the air conducting passage 25, and it is moved while being accelerated by centrifugal force in the exhaust passage 28 interspaced from the inclined groove, so that the rotating shaft 5, the rotor 10 and the stator 11 are thereby forcibly cooled.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To try to cool rotors, stators and the like, and to prevent the occurrence of their abrasion. SOLUTION: A braking device for a rolling stock is provided with ducts 41a and 41b through which compressed air is introduced into a housing 6 in the vicinity of the circumference of a rotating shaft 5, an air conducting passage 25 which is formed in the rotating shaft 5 so that compressed air taken in out of an air introducing port at the side face of a boss part 9 is fed into a spline part 13, an injection passage which is formed so that air out of the air conducting passage is taken in out of the inner circumference of a rotor so as to be introduced to the side face of the rotor, and with an air exhaust duct 42 which guides air exhausted out of a gap between the rotor 10 and a stator 11 to the outside. Cooling air fed with pressure is led to the rotor 10 from the rotating shaft 5 while being accelerated by rotating centrifugal force so as to allow these to be forcibly cooled. By air injected out of the rotor 10 against the surface opposite to the stator 11, the rotor 10 when no brake is applied is prevented from being brought into contact with the stator 11, and the occurrence of their abrasion is thereby reduced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railroad vehicle eddy current decelerator which can solve the problems of a conventional ECB brake. SOLUTION: A disc 12 is attached to an axle 1 with a boss 11 therebetween. Bearing units 16a and 16b are attached to the axle 1 on both the sides of the boss 11. A semi-circular stator assembly 17 is detachably attached to the bearing units 16a and 16b so as to cover the disc 12 partially. The stator assembly 17 has pole pieces 17a which are fixed on both the sides of the stator assembly 17 so as to face both the sides of the disc 12 and to be arranged on the respective same circles with predetermined intervals, a row of inside permanent magnets 17b which are fixed to positions facing the inner circumferential parts of the pole pieces 17a on the opposite side of the disc 12 so as to have their N-poles and S-poles arranged alternately, a row of outside permanent magnets 17c which are fixed to positions facing the outer circumferential parts of the pole pieces 17a so as to have their N-poles and S-poles arranged alternately and to have them able to be turned by one pitch of the pole pieces 17a, and a hydraulic cylinder 17k which turns the row of the outside permanent magnets 17c.
