    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake control device of a railway vehicle for easily decelerating the railway vehicle to a predetermined speed and stopping it at a predetermined point. SOLUTION: This device comprises a speed detection means 1 for detecting the speed of the railway vehicle based on the rotation speed of a wheel; a target speed setting means 2 for setting the target speed during deceleration of the railway vehicle; and a speed feedback control means 3 for feedback controlling a braking device 6 in a manner that the speed of the railway vehicle follows the target speed. Even when friction coefficients between a brake shoe and a wheel and between a brake lining and a brake disc are varied, the railway vehicle follows the target speed.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric railway vehicle capable of more effectively utilizing regenerative energy and lowering operation frequency of mechanical brake.
      SOLUTION: This electric railway vehicle 1 is provided with a regenerative brake device (electric brake) 50 and a pneumatic system including an air compressor 11, a main air reservoir 13 and a supply air reservoir 15 for storing air compressed by the compressor, and a brake cylinder 20, etc. When regenerative brake is lost, electric energy generated in the regenerative brake device 50 is delivered to the air compressor 11 without being delivered to a wire to work the compressor 11, and the compressed air is accumulated and pressurized in the main air reservoir 13. By converting inertia energy of the vehicle into air pressure, the regenerative energy can be effectively utilized. Air brake can be prevented from being operated as much as possible, and thereby deterioration of parts of the air brake can be suppressed.
