    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the joint strength by providing a male joint having a truncated conical projection part on the main beam of one steel shell piece used for a rectangular shield tunnel, and providing a female joint having a receiving part on the other steel shell piece. SOLUTION: A male joint 21 is formed of a plate connecting part 24, a truncated conical projection part 25, and a rib 24. The truncated conical projection part 25 and a female joint 22 have axes right-angled to the axial directions of respective main beams 20A, 20B and right-angled to the lateral direction of a steel shell piece 8, and lengths substantially equal to the thickness of the main beams. The truncated conical projection part 25 is tapered, and the female joint 22 has a truncated conical projection housing part 27 provided within a block 26 connected to the steel shell piece 8 and capable of fitting the male joint 21 and a clearance 29 corresponding to the rib 24. The male joint 21 is preferably connected and integrated over a plurality of main beams by a connecting part 28, and fixed to the end part of the steel shell piece 8. The assembling and constructing work of a steel shell ring can be facilitated and made more efficient.

    • PURPOSE: To further improve the welded quality with an automatic welding by picking up an arc, molten pool and these neighborhood under picking-up condition adapted to the welding and suitably controlling the welding condition based on the information obtd. from this picture. CONSTITUTION: A wire 6 is supplied to a torch 4 in a welding head 3 from a wire feeding device 7 and welding voltage is impressed to a base material 1 and the torch 4 and the arc is generated under shielding of shield gas to execute the welding of a bevel 2. At this time, the arc, molten pool and these neighborhood are picked up with a CCD camera 10. The picking-up condition of this photograph is adapted to the welding by changing the camera 10, optical filter fitted to the camera and lightening 9, etc. By this method, the clear picture of the molten pool shape, wire tip part position, bevel shape, bead shape, torch position, etc., is obtd. The welding condition of the wire tip part position, arc length, welded depositing quantity, torch height, etc., is controlled with a control panel 8 through a welding condition comparing computing element 12 based on the information obtd. with an image processor 11 from these figures.
