    • An engine ignition system includes a rotor (1A) that rotates in synchronism with rotation of an engine, an iron core (4A) fixedly disposed opposite the outer periphery of the rotor, and a primary coil (5) and a secondary coil (6) that are wound concentrically around the iron core. Permanent magnets (7A) are fitted to the iron core having a plurality of legs (8,9,10) opposite the outer periphery of the rotor (1A) at positions that are spaced in the peripheral direction of the rotor, and an inductor (2A) is fixed to the outer periphery of the rotor. The inductor forms a magnetic path for the magnetic flux that is formed by the permanent magnets (7A) between pairs of legs (8,9;9,10). The legs in a pair are adjacent to each other in the peripheral direction of the rotor, and the winding of the primary coil and the secondary coil around the iron core allows a spark plug to be energized every time the inductor passes the pairs of legs. The arrangement reduces the weight of the rotor while allowing the rotational balance of the rotor to be easily adjusted, simplifies the arrangement of the rotor itself, and secures an effectively usable space in the region on the inside of the rotor in the radial direction.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incorporate permanent magnets for power generation into a core and prevent the exposed portions of the permanent magnets from becoming rusted, while preventing magnetic short-circuiting in the permanent magnets.
      SOLUTION: The core 4 with a power generation coil 8 as an exciter coil for ignition wound on it is placed at a position opposite to the circumferential surface of a rotor 1 typified by a flywheel. The permanent magnets 10 are inserted into cut holes, formed in the magnetic poles 5 and 7 of the core 4. At least one inductor 11, that forms the magnetic path of magnetic flux produced by the permanent magnets 10, is provided on the circumferential surface of the rotor 1. A resin cover 20 is attached that includes a magnet cover that covers the exposed portions of the permanent magnets 10, and a coil case that houses the exciter coil 8. The exciter coil 8 attached to the core 4 and the permanent magnets 10 are sealed with resin, in a process in which the resin cover 20 is molded.
