    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the valve train controller of an internal combustion engine which can switch the operation mode of a valve train system at optimum timing while suppressing frequent switching feeling and assuring accelerating feeling, and which can improve drivability.
      SOLUTION: The valve train controller of the internal combustion engine 3 controls the operation of a valve train system including intake valves IV1, IV2 and an exhaust valve EV. The valve train controller includes a variable valve train mechanism 21 which can electively switch the operation mode of the valve train system among a plurality of operation modes having different output characteristics, an operation mode switching deciding means 2 for deciding switching of the operation mode of the valve train system, a switching suppressing means 2 for suppressing performance of switching of the operation mode according to a variable valve mechanism 21 based on the decision of the operation mode switching deciding means, load detecting means 60, 58, 2, and 59 for detecting loads AP, NE, and ENGREQ of the internal combustion engine 3, and a suppressing degree setting means 2 for setting a suppressing degree of the performance of switching the operation mode in response to the load of the internal combustion engine 3.
