摘要： When a video signal is double-speed processed by the first device, a slight vertical deflection process is performed for redundant similar scan lines by the second device, and any slight deflection in the second device is controlled by the first device to enable setting so as to display images with excellent resolution. The first device generates a discrimination signal to designate interlaced scanning and flag a need for vertical scan-line deflection, and such signal is provided to the second device such that the second device can always appropriately determine need for vertical scan-line deflection. Through monitoring for the discrimination signal, an image display apparatus can prevent vertical resolution from deteriorating when video signals possibly requiring vertical line-shifting are inputted from an external source, and can prevent vertical resolution from deteriorating when displaying images of video signals having different systems within different areas on the same screen.

Plural electrical lines extend in a line direction and a row direction across an interlayer insulator on the cathode substrate. Parts of lines positioned in an upper layer of the plural electrical lines are made into scan lines and lines positioned in a lower layer are made into data lines. Further, parts of the electrical lines positioned in the upper layer are made into spacer lines for giving to the spacers a voltage lower than an acceleration voltage which is applied to an accelerating electrode.

摘要： The present invention reduces smears arising from voltage decreases caused by the wiring resistance of scan lines for electron emission device selection. The display unit includes an FED panel in which scan lines, data lines, and electron supply devices are positioned at the intersections of the data lines and scan-lines. A scan driver for supplying a selection signal to the scan lines, and a data driver for supplying a drive signal to the data lines are provided. Electron emission devices selected by the selection signal are driven by the drive signal. A signal corrector circuit individually corrects the drive signal to be supplied to each data line to compensate for a voltage decrease caused by the wiring resistance in each column of the scan lines.

摘要： The invention is directed towards luminance correction on a display device such as a field emission display. A first correction based on a first luminance value and a second correction based on a second, greater luminance are stored in memory and are both used to correct an image for display on the display device. By accounting for both low luminance and high luminance values in the image correction, the uniformity of luminance in the corrected image can be improved over luminance correction using a single correction value. To improve luminance uniformity in a panel plane (1), for example, there is set an amplitude of a pixel driving voltage which is an anode current in the neighborhood of a threshold value of electron emission of one pixel and the amplitude is kept as a threshold value correction value for each pixel, and to correct the luminance variation in the high-luminance emission between the pixels, there is set an amplitude of a pixel driving voltage which is an anode current in the neighborhood of a maximum value of electron emission of one pixel and the amplitude is kept as a gain correction value for each pixel. 摘要： In a cathode substrate of an FED, spacers lines exclusive for connecting spacers to the ground were necessary besides scan lines and data lines, and a cathode substrate having a three-layer line structure was used in the prior art. In the present invention a cold cathode type flat panel display having a two-layer line structure is realised. The line structure of a cathode substrate 10 of an FED is made into a two-layer structure. Lines of the first layer are bottom electrodes 11 which constitute electron sources and have been used as scan lines, and top electrodes (13, Fig 22) of the second layer have been used as data lines. Moreover, some parts of top electrode bus lines connected to the top electrodes (13) are used as spacer lines, and the top electrode bus lines 16 are divided so as to be made into spacer lines 16'.
