摘要： A flat panel display apparatus includes a rear substrate in which a number of cold cathode devices for emitting electrons are formed on an insulative substrate; a display substrate in which phosphors are arranged in a matrix shape on a translucent substrate; supporting members which are arranged between the rear substrate and the display substrate and maintain intervals between them; and frame members, in which a space surrounded by the rear substrate, the display substrate, and the frame members is set to a vacuum atmosphere. It then becomes possible to provide an apparatus in which there is no remarkable change between a scanning line resistance value in the scanning line direction in a portion with spacers and that in a portion without a spacer, a luminance variation can be reduced, and the apparatus has a conduction connection structure of the spacers and the scanning lines.

Plural electrical lines extend in a line direction and a row direction across an interlayer insulator on the cathode substrate. Parts of lines positioned in an upper layer of the plural electrical lines are made into scan lines and lines positioned in a lower layer are made into data lines. Further, parts of the electrical lines positioned in the upper layer are made into spacer lines for giving to the spacers a voltage lower than an acceleration voltage which is applied to an accelerating electrode.

摘要： A flat panel display device incorporates at least one self-standing spacer 300 which is suitable for use within a large screen. The device comprises first and second substrates arranged opposite one another and separated by one or more spacers 300. Electron emitters are arranged in a matrix on the first substrate, and the second substrate includes a phosphor pattern which emits light when electrons from the electron emitters are incident, and a thin metal film for accelerating the electrons. The spacers include support members 301a, 302b which are coupled together to form rectangular or triangular spaces. The spacers may alternatively form L or T shapes. Also disclosed is a display device in which the first substrate also includes scanning electrodes and signal electrodes. Spacers are arranged on the scanning electrodes, and pairs of spacers are coupled together by support members to form a box.

摘要： A flat panel FED display device comprises first and second substrates arranged opposite one another and separated by spacers 410. The first substrate 421 includes scanning electrodes 422, signal electrodes 423 and electron emitters 424, and the second substrate includes a phosphor pattern. The spacers 410 are arranged on the scanning electrodes 422 in order that any stored charge is released, and pairs of spacers are coupled to each other by supports 411 to form a box. Each scanning electrode is connected to two rows of electron emitters 424 and the spacers are located between the rows. Also disclosed is a self standing spacer comprising support members which are coupled together to form rectangular or triangular spaces. The spacers may alternatively form L or T shapes. The spacers may be provided with holes to allow the display device to be evacuated.

摘要： In a cathode substrate of an FED, spacers lines exclusive for connecting spacers to the ground were necessary besides scan lines and data lines, and a cathode substrate having a three-layer line structure was used in the prior art. In the present invention a cold cathode type flat panel display having a two-layer line structure is realised. The line structure of a cathode substrate 10 of an FED is made into a two-layer structure. Lines of the first layer are bottom electrodes 11 which constitute electron sources and have been used as scan lines, and top electrodes (13, Fig 22) of the second layer have been used as data lines. Moreover, some parts of top electrode bus lines connected to the top electrodes (13) are used as spacer lines, and the top electrode bus lines 16 are divided so as to be made into spacer lines 16'.
