    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cathode with desirable stable characteristics from the beginning and long life by impregnating an electron emission material containing a compound of a barium-containing alkali earth metal oxide and alumina as the main component in a high melting point porous substrate and interposing an oxide film between the high melting point metal porous substrate and the electron emission material. SOLUTION: A high melting point metal porous substrate made of tungsten sintered body is heat treated preferably in the air and at a temperature of 400 deg.C or lower for oxidizing, and to obtain oxide films 201-206. For example, barium carbonate, calcium carbonate, aluminum oxide are mixed in a molar ratio of 4:1:1, the mixture is mixed with the substrate, and they are heated in a hydrogen atmosphere. The carbonate is decomposed and electron emission materials 301-305 made of barium.calcium.aluminate are produced and melted, and pores of the substrate are impregnated with electron emission materials. Excess impregnation residue adhered to the periphery of the substrate is removed by ultrasonic cleaning. Barium atoms sufficient for electron emission are continuously supplied to the surface of a cathode at the same time as the start of operation of the impregnation type cathode.

    • PURPOSE:To enable even a compact camera tube to have a high resolution so as to make a television camera compact, by combining a photoconductive film of decreased thickness and increased storage capacity with an electron gun whose electron beam defining aperture is made small to reduce the diameter of a scanning electron beam. CONSTITUTION:An external power supply 10 is connected between a transparent electrode 7 and a cathode 1. A photoconductive film 5 is scanned by a focused and deflected electron beam 2. As a result, the scanned surface of the photoconductive film 5 is negatively charged and has its equilibrium potential is setted nearly to the potential of a cathode 1 resulting the photoconductive film is almost charged by the external power supply. When light comes in, the electric resistance of the photoconductive film 5 drops so that the negative charge is increasingly discharged. As a result, an electric charge pattern corresponding to the quantity of the incoming light is formed on the scanning side surface of the photoconductive film 5, and the potential of the surface varies. When the photoconductive film 5 is scanned by the electron beam 2 at the next period, the electron beam landing occurs corresponding to the variation in the potential of the surface, so that a charging current nearly equal to the quantity of the discharged charge flows through current meter 11. For that reason, an optical image is converted into a time-sequential signal current. The storage capacity of the photoconductive film 5 is set at 15 muF/m to 150 muF/m .

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an image tube in which a ripple-like abnormal phenomenon is prevented from occurring on the peripheral portion of an image surface, by causing the position of the end of a convergence coil in the axial direction of the tube to coincide with that of the outside surface of the surface plate of the tube, and producing a prescribed converging magnetic field on a target on the inside surface of the surface plate. CONSTITUTION:The position of a convergence coil 9 in th axial direction of an image tube is made coincident with that of the outside surface of the surface plate of the tube. A converging magnetic field of 34 gauss or more is produced on the peripheral portion of a target 6 on the inside surface of the surface plate. For example, the target 6 is attached to the tube body 7 fitted with an electrostatic deflection electrode 8 on the inside surface of the cylindrical portion of the tube body, and the convergence coil 9 is disposed around the tube body 7. The converging magnetic field of enough intensity acts near the boundary between a scanning and a non-scanning regions having a very large potential difference, to prevent an electron beam from deviating from a proper course and landing in the non-scanning region when receiving an attractive force due to the high positive potential of the non-scanning region. As a result, a ripple-like phenomenon is prevented to improve the quality of a picture.

    • PURPOSE:To achieve increased tolerance for positional shifts by forming V-shaped areas slanting relative to the longer sides of the scanning area in a signal-drawing low-resistance electrode which is installed on the peripheral area of a photoelectric conversion film formed on the inner surface of the face plate. CONSTITUTION:A signal-drawing target pin 2 and a transparent conductive film 3, which constitutes a photoelectric conversion surface, and installed on a face plate 1. A pin-lead-type camera tube is produced by forming a low- resistance electrode 4', consisting of a frame-like metallic vapordeposition film having V-shaped patterns 4a, on the peripheral area of the transparent conductive film 3 by vapor deposition: the V-shaped patterns 4a are formed by folding the pin-2-side area and its opposite area of the frame-like film toward its center by slant angles of at least 8 deg.. Owing to the above structure, it is possible to produce tolerance for the positional shift between a scanning area 5 and the electrode 5' and for that between the scanning area 5 and the glass chip. Furthermore, it is also possible to reduce the incidence of light reflected by the electrode 4' upon the scanning area 5.
