    • PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a measuring instrument and to improve its performance by providing the upper part of a hollow casing to be interpenetrated in the ground with a light projection process section, a light reception process section and a processing section for detecting the height of a sand pile material face in the casing. CONSTITUTION:Light having specified wave length is projected from a light projection process section 6 provided on the upper part of a hollow casing 2, and reflected on a sand face S, and then received by a light reception process section 7. Signals issued from the light projection process section 6 and the light reception process section 7 are computed by a processing section 8 in relation to time for computing the height of a sand face in the casing 2. Next the quantity of discharged sand and of pressed in sand are computed, for instance, by utilizing the result of computation, and displayed by CRT, a recorder and a printer which cooperate with the computing section 8, and in the case where the above quantity is out of a designed value, an alarm is issued. Thus the damage of a measuring device caused by charging the sand can be prevented, and the height of the sand face can be detected quickly, precisely and with high accuracy.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the ground of non-uniform strength distribution to uniform ground by a method in which a vibration is given to a sand discharge and compacting part provided to the lower end of a hollow pipe for forming a sand pile by varying both or either of the frequency and amplitude according to the strength of the ground to be improved. CONSTITUTION:A sand hopper 5, a penetrator 6, an air valve 7, an air supply pipe 8, an exhaust pipe 9, and an exhaust valve 10 are attached to the upper part of a hollow pipe 1 for forming a sand pile, and an outer pipe 2, a sand discharge and compacting part 3, and a forced vertically moving mechanism 4 are provided to the lower part of the pipe 1. The hollow pipe 1 is first penetrated to a given depth into soft ground and then vertically moved continuously for compaction while operating the sand discharge and compacting part 3. In this case, the strength of the ground to be improved is detected by a separate means, and according to the variation in the strength of the ground, either or both of the frequency and amplitude of the part 3 is varied. Thus, the ground of an uniformity can be obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method for forming a high-quality solidification-treated pile, in whcih the dispersion of quality is reduced when the solidification-treated pile is to be formed for improving a ground and which has high compressive strength. SOLUTION: The front end of a mechanical type agitator 10 is conformed to the core of a column body to be formed and agitating shafts 2 are rotated, agitating blades 3 are turned, discharging a solidifying material from the front end of the device 10 in excavating or pulling-up, and a columnar body is formed, mixing and agitating the solidifying material with excavated materials. A spare process, in whcih the front end of the mechanical type agitator 10 is conformed to the core of the columnar body to be formed and the agitating shafts 2 are revolved, the agitating blades 3 are rotated without discharging the solidifying material from the front end of the device 10, excavation is conducted, unfastening excavated materials, the agitating shafts 2 are turned or rotated reversely as they are when the blades 3 reach near designed depth and the agitating shafts 2 are pulled up on a ground, unfastening excavated materials, is provided as a preprocess in which the method is executed.
